Britain in the US
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has an overseas network of 233 diplomatic missions. In the US, the British Embassy is in Washington DC, headed by the Ambassador Sir Nigel Sheinwald, who is accredited to the president of the United States.
The Embassy is supported by a number of Consulates General around the US, in Boston, New York, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco. There are also British Consulates in Denver and Orlando.

UK Trade and Investment works to promote trade between the UK and the US and to encourage US investment in the UK. It maintains a network of UK trade and investment offices around the US.
Visit Britain is the British Tourist Office in the US, with offices in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
The British Council, based in Washington, is the British government's international organization for educational and cultural relations. Its US website is the first destination for those seeking information and advice on education and contemporary arts in the UK.
The UK Mission to the United Nations is based in New York. Its ambassador, Sir John Sawers, is one of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.
